Ceramic pulley laggings are one of the most popular lagging types for conveyor pulleys. This type of lagging offers a combination of hardness and durability that rubber laggings don't provide. It is mostly used in rough industrial environments where abrasive materials are handled, for example the mining, cement, or material handing industry. The purpose of these laggings is to increase the friction between the pulley and the conveyor belt, resulting in improved belt traction, reduced slippage and greater efficiency of the conveyor system.
Ceramic laggings are made up of ceramic tiles or segments set into a rubber base. These tiles are usually made of high-density alumina or a specific type of ceramic, which has an exceptional rate of wear resistance, high hardness and good friction properties. The rubber component of the lagging provides dampening, shock absorption and abrasion resistance; meanwhile, the ceramic elements enhance the friction between the belt and the pulley.
Ceramic hardness is on Mohs 9°, which is very hard and abrasion resistant. Rubber hardness varies in the range of 60-65 Shore A. It adapts to different kinds of movements. It has a remarkable tensile strength, which is measured at ≥15MPa.
The elongation at break is ≥300%, which is quite remarkable. Temperature range is between -40℃~80℃, which is wide enough for most applications. The wear resistance index is ≤140 mm³, meaning it can resist abrasion. Last but not least, the peel strength of this material is ≥13MPa.
Debon DB-TC Single Row Ceramic Rubber Lagging is designed for high abrasion and wear resistance, offering superior performance for conveyor pulleys. This lagging is made of 92% Alumina Ceramic and Rubber, with a hardness of Mohs 9, and thicknesses of 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, and 25mm. The square ceramic shape provides superior abrasion resistance and prevents belt slippage and material build-up. Debon's Premium Ceramic Lagging is ideal for harsh and abrasive environmental conditions, offering long-lasting, reliable protection for conveyor pulleys.
Ceramic Pulley Lagging is typically shipped in cases of four lagging sections, wrapped in a strong polythene film. The lagging sections are then placed in a wooden or cardboard box to prevent any damage.
The box is then secured with a non-corrosive metal band or strap. If required, the box is also wrapped in a waterproof plastic cover.
The box must be placed on a pallet or skid to ensure safe loading and unloading during transport. Once the box is secured on the pallet, it is then shrink-wrapped with plastic film for extra security.
The pallet is then loaded onto a truck, trailer, or container for shipping. The driver must be provided with all the necessary information, such as the destination and handling requirements.
